Growing up as a native of Las Vegas, how did your upbringing and environment influence your approach to your career in real estate and public speaking?
Asael: Being born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, presented me with an opportunity to see our small-town turn into the entertainment capital of the world. With that growth comes hills and valleys; success and failure. I learned what constant change and evolvement look like, and what it takes to be proactive and adaptive to change. I understood the stories behind the many families that moved to Las Vegas because their original home outgrew them, not that they outgrew their home. That movement is still very common today, and it will not surprise me when the time comes that our city will push its locals to make that difficult decision one day to leave and find opportunity outside of Las Vegas. This influenced my approach in my career in real estate and public speaking, in that I understand how essential growth and constant learning are to my continued success in both fields. I live just outside of my comfort zone, and that is where success and opportunity await the brave and courageous.
Transitioning from hospitality to real estate is a significant shift. What motivated you to make this career change, and how did you navigate it?
Asael: I strongly believe that with a strong core and foundation of high-quality customer service, you have an advantage. If you genuinely value and care about being of service, then you have an even greater advantage. It is much easier to teach someone a system of success than it is to teach someone how to be a genuinely kind and caring person. You cannot teach resilience, and you cannot teach character. What motivated me to start a career in real estate was to provide an example of success that comes from having a strong work ethic and a mindset of abundance. To navigate it, I took the long road and approached my real estate business through education, fundamentals, and integrity. Developing my sales skills came on the strength of mastering my skills as a professional and educator.
You’ve been a pivotal part of implementing NAHREP 10 disciplines. Can you provide examples of the benefits you’ve seen from these disciplines in your work with clients?
Asael: Thank you for the opportunity, as a NAHREP 10 Certified Trainer, to be able to help educate our communities. It is a great responsibility, privilege, and honor to be able to do so. A great benefit in my work with clients is seeing a student develop into a teacher. When someone applies the NAHREP 10 disciplines to all aspects of their lives, it rewards them with the opportunity to share their successes with those closest to them. It rewards me with a sense of fulfillment and purpose. It rewards the relationships I value with a stronger connection and trust. It allows me to provide a value to my clients that is long term, and it gives me a sense of responsibility to continue leading by example.
Music seems to play a role in your life. How has your involvement in the music industry influenced your approach to real estate and public speaking?
Asael: That is a great question. Thank you for researching that part of my life. My involvement in the music industry strengthened my networking skills, my marketing skills, my budgeting skills, my presentation skills, my work ethic, my creativity, and so much more. You set a goal, you do the activities to reach that goal, and the next thing you know, you've created a piece of art that could not exist without all your efforts. If that sounds a bit similar to starting a business, or real estate, or public speaking, it is because the fundamentals to success are very much the same in all aspects of life. There are no secrets to success. There are no secrets to real estate. There are no secrets to public speaking. Do what is right, do what is right often, and the quality of your product will show. Practice, practice, practice.
How do you recommend others pursue a path similar to yours in both real estate and public speaking, and what skills or strategies do you find most essential for success in these fields?
Asael: I would encourage and challenge that special someone to pursue real estate and public speaking as a desire to be of service. Channel into that positive energy where you want to contribute to the good in this world. Continue to improve your skills, be open minded, ask a lot of questions, be grateful, and fulfill your purpose by then sharing what you know with others. I highly encourage you to be an educator for life. Some of the most essential skills for success in real estate and public speaking are not measured by production. Think "Passive Skills" vs. "Active Skills." What goes on inside of you, is far more important than what is seen from the outside. Learn the strategy of being calm under intense pressure and performing at your highest capacity. Learn the skills of active listening, negotiation, and being able to read the room.
