How Nuria Rivera Champions a New Model of Leadership Rooted in Purpose

A first-generation immigrant from Mexico, Nuria Rivera has spent the past two decades transforming real estate—not just as a business, but as a vehicle for personal and community empowerment. As founder of Novation Title Insurance Agency, she built a company grounded in high-performance leadership and values-driven culture. Rivera’s business model intentionally integrates leadership development, emotional intelligence, and financial literacy into every layer of operations.

In 2023, Rivera served as National President of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP), where she led with a vision rooted in authenticity, collaboration, and results. Her leadership was marked by her efforts to elevate Latina voices in the industry and push for a culture shift that reimagines what power and success can look like.

A frequent speaker and business coach, Rivera has earned national recognition, including HousingWire’s Rising Star and a spot on the Top Latino-Owned Business List. She continues to advocate for a new standard of leadership—one where feminine energy, team culture, and purpose alignment are viewed as strategic advantages.

Q&A with Nuria Rivera

Your leadership style has always emphasized purpose and emotional intelligence. How have those values shaped your approach to running Novation Title?

Nuria: I would say it’s one of the biggest key points to my retention of employees. Being aware of the energy of the office, calling forward and asking questions has helped us find solutions to issues in a timely manner. It kills the snowball effect of resentment that gets created with assumptions and not having a plan of real results.

You’ve said that Latina leadership is both powerful and often overlooked. What unique advantages do you think Latina leaders bring to the business world?

Nuria: I believe the fire alongside the nurturing quality that we naturally hold is a fantastic combination. We bring a different perspective, a balance in kindness and let’s get this done attitude! I still see Latinas in business leaning too much into wanting to be more like the men in business. I believe we are both powerful beings and we can all play in the world together bringing different strengths. That’s where the magic happens! You don’t need to try to be like anyone else. Be you and go shine!

During your presidency at NAHREP, you helped elevate the voices of women in real estate. What did you learn about power and inclusion during that year?

Nuria: That our power is in speaking up when we know we must. Even if it goes against the popular perspective. When we believe in something very strongly. But not from a place of being righteous or combative, but from a place of passion and care. Always respectful. Also knowing when NOT to speak. Sometimes the smartest person in the room is observing quietly. There is a time and a place for it all.

What does it mean to you to be part of Próximo at AVANCE Global—and how do you hope this new platform impacts the next generation of Latino entrepreneurs?

Nuria: It is the most exciting thing happening for our Latinos! Not only in America but globally. We are shaping the future of our people, the opportunities, the growth and the vision. It is a very important time for us and what will you tell your kids? That you helped make impact. Or that you sat on the sidelines waiting for change.

As you look ahead, what’s one principle you want to see more leaders embrace when building businesses and shaping culture?

Nuria: It’s often confused that leadership means control and fear. I don’t relate to that whatsoever. I want to always be a leader people follow based on their sovereignty of wanting to. Not because they fear me. The biggest mistake you can make is not pouring into your teams as much as you pour energy into getting business. If people feel seen, have growing opportunities and that know they matter they never leave. You can demand high standards and at the same time pour into your employees.

At Próximo at AVANCE Global, Rivera brings this same ethos of intentional leadership to a global audience. As a featured speaker, she highlights how inclusive and emotionally intelligent leadership is not only possible—it’s profitable, sustainable, and necessary.
