Highlights of HHPC

The Homeownership and Housing Policy Conference (HHPC) in Washington D.C March 23-25 showcased how the Hispanic Wealth Project and the broader NAHREP ecosystem are aligning entrepreneurship, homeownership, and policy advocacy to advance Latino wealth creation. Throughout Washington, D.C., the tone was distinctly entrepreneurial, non-partisan, collaborative, and highly productive, with housing leaders and lawmakers focused on concrete solutions.
HWP mission and integrated ecosystem
The Hispanic Wealth Project was consistently framed as the wealth-building engine behind NAHREP’s policy work, with its goals to narrow the Latino–White wealth gap and expand homeownership, business ownership, and financial asset participation. This was illustrated in the State of The Association presentation by outgoing President Oralia Hererra. Sessions and side conversations repeatedly emphasized that real progress requires an integrated ecosystem—real estate professionals, small-business owners, lenders, investors, and policymakers working in tandem rather than in silos.
Entrepreneurship and wealth-building sessions
Multiple HHPC sessions focused on entrepreneurship, portfolio building, and scaling Latino-owned businesses as pathways to long-term wealth, tying directly back to HWP’s pillars of business ownership and financial diversification. Panelists stressed practical strategies—moving from commission-only income to asset accumulation, investing in income-producing real estate, and accessing capital for high-growth ventures—showing attendees how to build intergenerational wealth rather than one-time transactions.
HWP Trainers and Ambassadors in action
HWP Trainers and Ambassadors were visible throughout the conference, serving as moderators, breakout leaders, and expert panelists on topics ranging from investment strategies to estate planning. Their presence reinforced the idea that HWP is not just a think tank but a practitioner network equipping Latino professional with tools, curriculum, and peer support to translate policy and market insights into measurable wealth outcomes in their local markets.
Policy conversations on Capitol Hill
The conference culminated in coordinated Hill visits where NAHREP members carried HWP’s wealth objectives directly to lawmakers, connecting stories from the field with priorities like housing supply, access to credit, and workforce and immigration reforms. These Capitol Hill conversations underscored that scaling Latino wealth requires policy frameworks that expand homeownership opportunities, lower structural barriers to lending, and support the small-business ecosystem that powers Latino communities nationwide.
Keynote leaders and CEOs
Headline keynotes featured top housing leaders and U.S. lawmakers, including HUD Secretary Scott Turner and Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Ruben Gallego, alongside industry leaders and CEOs such as Mike Meedler, President & CEO of Century 21 Real Estate, Jack Miller President & CEO, T3 Sixty, Carolina Jannicelli, Managing Director, Global Head of Diversity, Opportunity and Inclusion, JPMorgan Chase, and Rory Golod, President of Growth, Compass International Holdings. Their messages converged on a shared theme: Latino homeownership is central to America’s economic future, and public–private collaboration is essential to close supply gaps, expand mortgage access, and support first-generation buyers and entrepreneurs.

Across general sessions, social posts, and end-of-day recaps, attendees highlighted an atmosphere that blended policy seriousness with startup-style optimism that was data-driven and solution-oriented. The non-partisan, cross-sector mix of government officials, corporate executives, advocates, and grassroots practitioners created a uniquely collaborative environment where people compared notes, shared playbooks, and left with clear next steps to advance HWP-aligned goals in their markets.
