Celebrating Latino Entrepreneurship: Gary Acosta Rings the NASDAQ Closing Bell

On Cinco de Mayo, the NASDAQ stock exchange resonated with the vibrant energy of Latino entrepreneurship as L'ATTITUDE VENTURES took center stage to commemorate this significant cultural celebration. This event, which highlighted the dynamic contributions of Latino innovators to the American economy, featured a host of influential speakers, including Gary Acosta, who delivered an inspiring speech that captured the essence of Latino entrepreneurial spirit.

NASDAQ, in its enthusiastic LinkedIn post, expressed pride in partnering with L'ATTITUDE VENTURES, celebrating their role in championing innovation and growth in Latino entrepreneurship across the nation. "L'ATTITUDE VENTURES, thank you for championing the innovation and growth of Latino entrepreneurship throughout the country. You embody the entrepreneurial spirit of the NASDAQ family. We are so proud to be your partner," read the post, emphasizing the collaborative efforts in driving forward the Latino business community.

Gary Acosta, in his speech, powerfully articulated the shifting perception of the Hispanic market in the United States. "The conversation about the Hispanic market changed from a 'this is the right thing to do' to 'if we don't do this, we're going to continue to lose market share and some of us might actually lose our jobs,'" he stated, highlighting the critical importance of recognizing and supporting the burgeoning Latino market.

Acosta's remarks were a clarion call to acknowledge the substantial impact that Latinos are making across various sectors. "I really wanted to emphasize the impact that Latinos are having on the US economy and how important that is for growth and prosperity for all Americans," he said. By spotlighting the influence of Latinos in business, technology, media, and sports, Acosta painted a vivid picture of a community that is not only thriving but is also indispensable to the nation's economic future.

He also highlighted the vital role of capital in fostering this growth, acknowledging NASDAQ's support. "Without capital, none of this can actually happen. So, we need organizations like the NASDAQ and others supporting growth," Acosta noted, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between financial institutions and the entrepreneurial ventures they fuel. "Capital is supposed to flow where the growth is, and the growth in the United States is the Latino marketplace," he added, driving home the point that the future of American economic expansion is inextricably linked to the success of Latino entrepreneurs.
Acosta's speech culminated in a call to action and a redefinition of the Cinco de Mayo celebration. "Today marks a new beginning. There's a new way that we celebrate Cinco de Mayo in this country, and that's through economic prosperity," he declared, encapsulating the spirit of the event.

Gary Acosta is the Co-Founder & CEO of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP®). NAHREP is the nation’s largest Hispanic business organization with over 40,000 members and 100 local chapters. In his capacity as CEO of NAHREP, he created the Hispanic Wealth Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a strategic plan to triple Hispanic household wealth by 2024. The NASDAQ closing bell event perfectly aligned with Acosta's vision for the Hispanic Wealth Project, which focuses on increasing homeownership, scaling small businesses, and diversifying investments to empower the Hispanic community economically.

Additionally, Acosta is a co-founder of L'ATTITUDE Ventures, a $100M venture fund investing in U.S. Latino/Latina early-stage founders. The NASDAQ event honored this collaboration, with Acosta and his partner Laura Moreno ringing the closing bell, celebrating the innovation and growth of U.S. Latino entrepreneurship. The celebration at NASDAQ was not just a recognition of Latino heritage but also a powerful endorsement of the entrepreneurial drive and economic contributions of the Latino community. It was a day that highlighted the importance of inclusion, innovation, and investment, paving the way for a future where Latino entrepreneurs continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the American economy.
