From Undocumented Arrival to Diversified Investor: AT Almeida Rides the American Dream

A.T. Almeida is CEO and Team Leader at The American Dream Group Coldwell Banker in Dallas/Fort Worth. A former professional bull rider, A.T. lived his first years in America as an undocumented arrival from his native Brazil, working as a dishwasher and Uber driver before becoming the #63 Latino Realtor in Texas in 2019.

His entrepreneurial passion for advancing sustainable Hispanic homeownership shines through in his dedication to helping Latino families secure their dream homes and growing a financial legacy for his family and clients.

WSN: Welcome AT. Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey to where you are now.

AT Almeida: Sure, I was born and raised in Brazil. I moved to the US about 18 years ago in my mid-twenties, initially just to visit. However, I ended up staying, overstaying my visa, and eventually became undocumented for 10 years until I got married and obtained my green card. My interest in real estate and investing sparked when I acquired my license, originally aiming to improve my financial situation from jobs like ridesharing. Through real estate, I discovered not only the potential for financial gain but also the impact of helping families achieve their dream of home ownership.

WSN: Tell us about your perspective on wealth diversification and your income streams.

AT Almeida: Diversification is key. I work with stocks, real estate rentals, land, bonds, and investments in the Brazilian market. I also delve into blockchain, joint ventures, and various ventures in the real estate industry. Spreading investments across different sectors protects against risks and enhances growth potential.

WSN: What groups or organizations have been instrumental in your learning and networking journey?

AT Almeida: I highly value platforms like NAHREP for learning from industry experts and connecting with like-minded individuals. I attend national conferences, masterminds, and invest in opportunities both nationally and in Brazil. I rely heavily on resources like the Angel Investment Community provided by Hispanic Wealth Project to gain insight into startup companies and innovative projects from industry leaders.

WSN: How would you advise someone looking to diversify in multiple areas?

AT Almeida: Setting a healthy budget and conducting thorough research on prospective ventures are crucial before transitioning into various investment areas. It's essential to understand budget constraints and venture intricacies to make informed decisions and mitigate risks.

WSN: What legacy do you aspire to build?

AT Almeida: My legacy is tied to my son. I aim to instill values of humility, gratitude, and financial intelligence in him. I want him to recognize our roots, the journey we've taken, and the importance of responsible financial practices. By passing down these lessons, I hope to empower future generations with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of wealth-building and financial success.

WSN: Your commitment to building a generational legacy through education and financial empowerment is truly inspiring. Thank you, AT, for sharing your story and insights with us.
